Unitec Electronics Celebrates 20th Anniversary in the Carwash Industry

Jessup, Maryland, April 15, 2003 - Unitec Electronics is proud to announce their celebration of 20 years in the carwash industry.

Unitec was founded in 1983 by an electrical engineer and a carwash distributor who joined forces to develop the first discreet code entry system for the carwash market. From a basement workshop, the two partners designed, produced and marketed their "Touch N'Go" system engineered to prevent the costly abuse inherent in the then current 'code-of-the-day' system. Unitec was incorporated in 1985 and was in full production in their first 'true' commercial manufacturing facility by 1987.

By 1992, Unitec was securely positioned at the forefront of technology in the petroleum carwash market, working closely with petroleum companies to develop the UNI-CAM® interface software that allows customers to purchase carwashes at the gas pump, in the C-store or at the carwash entrance. By providing multiple points of sale, UNI-CAM® generated greater sales and increased profits for site owners. From there, Unitec went on to manufacturer Enterlink®, their first automatic carwash entry system.

Today, Unitec designs and manufacturers carwash entry systems and bill changers for all segments of the carwash market. Unitec’s line of premium, customizable entry systems include Enterlink®, Wash Select II™ Wash Select II™ POS, as well as the line of WashChange™ bill changers. The industry is anxiously awaiting the 2003 release of Unitec’s next generation product in automatic carwash entry systems.

Unitecs co-owner and co-founder, Jeff Ousborne is very proud to celebrate the companys 20th anniversary. When reflecting on the past 20 years Jeff said with a smile, "This has turned into a far greater company than I could have ever imagined when we started. Neither Erik, (referring to Erik Eden, co-owner and co-founder), the managers, nor I could have done it on our own. I give the credit to the employees. For it is their goals, values and commitment to the company that has made Unitec the special place that it is."

Jeff goes on to further discuss the unique culture of the company and how it is similar to a family. "The employees genuinely care about each other and I enjoy watching them work together and watching them have fun together at the many corporate events sponsored by Unitecs Fun Gang committee."

Unitec has experienced tremendous growth over the past 20 years and has seen a lot of competitors come and go. When asked what is the reason behind Unitec outlasting so many competitors, Erik Eden said, "Its a trust thing. Trust takes time to build up and we have employees and customers that trust this company and have invested themselves in this company. That trust and dedication to service has allowed Unitec to continue to grow better and faster."

Unitecs core foundation and corporate values are based on integrity and ethics. This has held true for 20 years and will continue to hold true for the future. The owners have sincerely enjoyed these past 20 years and are looking forward to the many surprises that will come along the way and the excitement of the unexpected. Please join Unitec in their celebration of 20 years in the carwash industry.
