Frequently Asked Questions:

What do I need to do before I call to set up an appointment to download my credit card machine?
Make sure you’ve set up a merchant account.  A Credit Card Setup Application needs to be completed and faxed to Unitec at 410-579-6830.

What is a bank or credit service provider?
A bank or credit service provider is a company or association that arranges and services an account for a customer.  The Customer Service Provider is a “middleman” between the customer and the Credit Processor.

What is a Credit Processor?
A credit processor is a company whose business is strictly handling credit card verification and electronic transfer of funds.

What is a Merchant Account?
A merchant account is an account where customers’ funds are deposited upon settlement.

What are the phone line requirements?
A dedicated phone line, run through a separate conduit, must be installed to each Wash Select II, or Portal TI entry system.

Where can I find a merchant provider?
Start with your local bank.  The one requirement is that they use FDR Omaha, TSYS, Elavon (Nova) or Paymentech as a credit card processor.  If you have any problems finding one, our Merchant Services Department can make a recommendation.

Where is the money deposited?
The money is deposited in any bank of your choice.

What software do you use?
The credit processing software and hardware is provided by Datacap Systems and varies by application.  Dial-up processing applications use the Datatran 162SL.  Internet processing applications use either the IP Tran or Net E-Pay products.  Each of these Datacap products has been certified as PABP compliant.

Where do the numbers on the Merchant Set-Up Sheet come from?
The numbers come from the merchant account provider.

I have 2 machines at the same location; do I need 2 merchant accounts?
No.  However if you are using Elavon (Nova) or Paymentech as the front-end processor, you will need separate Terminal ID numbers for each machine.

I have 2 machines at different locations; do I need 2 merchant accounts?
Check with your credit processor.
